Beginning Racing Program
The Beginning Racing Program (BRP) is for anyone who is interested in performance riding. You don't need to be in great shape. Some of the riding will be a little challenging but most of it will emphasize skills rather than high intensity training. No one will be dropped on any of the rides. If the group splits, one of the instructors will hang back.
The course offers on-bike instruction in basic racing skills (such as cornering and climbing, bike fit, group riding techniques), and an opportunity to participate in a beginner's only race. Participants will acquire with the knowledge and skills to race successfully. These same skills will allow you to participate in many of the informal training rides sponsored by clubs throughout the metro area.
Riders in the Intro Program will participate in the Summit Criterium Challenge sponsored by Summit Brewery. This is a regular racing series which is organized by the SPBRC.
The race is held on the driver training course at Dakota County Technical College in Rosemount. This is a fun, safe course race. You can also participate in the regular races which use a more challenging course and have more aggressive competition.

Ride the Velodrome

Track riding is a blast and is something that every bicycle rider should experience. It's also pretty easy. The National Sports Center Velodrome, located in Blaine, routinely attracts the best track riders from the US and Canada, sometimes even Europe.
Bob Williams, director of the track, has years of experience getting novices started on the track. Bob will be your coach for the last session. This is an introductory session, so there won't be any racing, just a relaxed chance to experience the track at your own pace.
